 "Naveen has no time for people of Odisha: Modi")
Targeting chief minister Naveen Patnaik, BJP’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi today said that the Chief Minister has no time for the people of the state.
“Do you have any hope from your chief minister? Is he of any use? Does he have time for you? Then why to waste your time on him? Who doesn’t have time for you why should I spend time for him,” Modi said at BJP’s Vijay Shankalp rally held at Sambalpur.
In his 35 minutes speech at the rally, Modi mostly criticised the Congress and the Central government and turned his attention to Naveen Patnaik and state govenrment towards the fag end of the meeting after some state unit leaders on the dais passed on the chit to him urging him to attack the ruling BJD.
“There is need for a working, decisive government at Delhi,” Modi told the massive crowd gathered.
Modi’s criticism of Patnaik was markedly less intense compared to his earlier utterings against hims at a rally in Bhubaneswar on February 11, this year.
Then he had come down heavily on Patnaik for his failure to stop the migration of people from the state, including his home district Ganjam. He had also ridiculed Patnaik for not being able to speak in Oriya and highlighted state’s backwardness in various socio-economic indicators.
Striking an emotional chord to woo the voters of western Odisha today, Modi reminisced that young Veer Surendra Sai had sacrificed his life for Indian independence prior to 1857 war.
“Sambalpur has fought war before 1857 revolt for independence,” claimed the PM nominee.
“1857 me tha Swarajya ki ladai (fight for freedom), kamaal aur roti (lotus and bread), 2014 me hai su-rajya ke ladai (fight for good governance), Modi aur roti,” said Modi asking people to send more BJP MPs to Delhi for a progressive and stable government. Modi raised the issue of poor productivity in fields and pitched for marketing opportunities for Sambalpur sarees and other handicrafts in the international arena.
