As the final phase of polling for the 16th Lok Sabah elections came to an end, BJP's prime ministerial candidate and one of the most talked about leader, Narendra Modi, thanked the people of India for voting in large number and said that he never imaging to be where he has reached today.
"Personally, this campaign has been a remarkable journey...I had never imagined that someone like me would find himself here today. This is the power of Democracy and this is the power of Bharat Mata (Mother India). I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this journey. Your support and criticism made this journey a lot livelier," Modi wrote on his official blog.
He also expressed his gratitude towards the Election Commission of India for conducting such a mammoth task. "The biggest festival of democracy has just concluded and in those lakhs of EVMs lays the verdict of the people of India.
"I thank and salute all those countless election staff, security personnel and police pe0onnel without whom no Election is possible," he added.
During the election campaign Modi has travelled extensively covering virtually every state of the country. As per an estimate, the BJP leader had travelled nearly 300,000 km, with an average travel of 2,500 km every day since February this year.
Modi also did not miss a chance to take a dig at the Congress party.
