“The candidates while filing the nominations will have to fill all the information in affidavit. If any required information is not filled up, then the returning officer (RO) will direct them, in writing, to fill it within a specified period,” said Mona Sharma, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
If they fail to do so then RO can reject the nomination papers. Flying squads and static surveillance teams would take care of the allegations of violation of model code of conduct.
The parties would have to take the prior approval of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committees at the district level for the content of media campaigns so that there is nothing objectionable, the CEO stated.
The election commission has revised the election expenditure to Rs 70 lakh for Parliamentary constituencies and Rs 28 lakh for assembly constituencies.
