The Trinamool Congress today claimed that both Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi were criticising Mamata Banerjee because she was not supporting them. "Why are both angry with her? It is because they are not supported by my leader Mamata Banerjee," TMC General Secretary Partha Chatterjee told reporters here.

On transfers of police officers in the state during elections, he accused the Congress of misusing the Election Commission.

"They are doing at the behest of one leader. Election Commission must maintain impartiality so that free and fair polls can be conducted in the country and people are allowed to freely exercise their democratic rights," Chatterjee said. On the Saradha chitfund scam in the state, he claimed that it was because of the Trinamool government that the culprits could be caught.

"Had CPI(M) been in power they wouldn't have been caught," he said, alleging that the chitfund scam started during Left Front rule. "And, Congress supported it from the top," the TMC  leader alleged.
