A voter standing in a queue at a polling booth in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad objected when Union minister Chiranjeevi, who once ruled the Telugu film industry with his heroic stunts, tried to walk straight into the polling station. Am NRI (non-resident Indian) voter who confronted Chiranjeevi and questioned him on why he was jumping the queue, instantly became a real hero by receiving applause from other voters, while the hero of the silver screen, along with his family, ended up standing in the queue and waited for his turn to cast vote.
Brahmi's name missing
Popular Telugu film comedian Brahmanandam, who acted in Election Commission’s public interest advertisements urging voters to cast their votes, was in for a shock on Wednesday. The Padma Shri-awardee who holds a Guinness World Record for acting in most number of films, found his name missing from the voters' list. Brahmanandam (fondly called Brahmi) requested the election officials at the Jubilee Hills Public School to recheck the list. However, he and his wife Lakshmi had to leave the polling booth disappointed and disheartened as they were informed that their names were missing.
Chandrababu's vote invalid
Chief Elector Officer, Bhanwar Lal, said the vote cast by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu would be invalidated. The mistake the former minister made was publicly disclosing that he had voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party. According to the election rules, one should not disclose near the polling station to whom he or she voted for.
