Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K Chandrasekhara Rao, on Friday released the first list of 69 party candidates for the ensuing elections to the state legislative Assembly.
Stating that the TRS would not have electoral alliance with any party, Rao said he would release the list of candidates for the remaining 50 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana shortly.
While Rao would be contesting from the Gajwel Assembly segment in his native Medak district, his nephew, T Harish Rao, and son, K T Rama Rao, will contest from Siddipet and Sircilla constituencies respectively.
The TRS chief also released the party’s election manifesto today which, according to him, accorded “first priority” to the welfare of minorities and weaker sections of society.
The manifesto envisages, among other aspects, a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of Muslim minorities, waiver of farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh, regularisation of contract workers and 12 per cent reservation for Muslims.
However, Shakeel Ahmed was the lone Muslim in the list of candidates released on Friday. He will be contesting from Bodhan in Nizamabad district.
Releasing the manifesto, Rao said Rs 10 lakh besides one or two jobs would be provided to the family members of those who had sacrificed their lives during the prolonged struggle for attaining separate statehood to the Telangana region.
