MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, whose party is a component of the NDA, today greeted BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on his "great victory," and virtually conceded defeat of his party in the state, saying it accepted the verdict of the people of Tamil Nadu.
"The great Modi wave across the nation has given the BJP absolute majority and the NDA a startling, magnificent victory," he said in a statement here.
"I extend my greeting and congratulate Narendra Modi," Vaiko, whose party contested seven seats as a part of the BJP-led six party alliance in the state and set to draw a blank, said.
Vaiko, a strong votary of Sri Lankan Tamils' cause, is trailing behind the ruling AIADMK candidate Radhakrishnan T, securing 1,20,637 votes so far compared to 1,83,459 votes by the nearest rival.
