Upbeat over the decisive victory achieved by his party in the Seemandhra region, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu said he would work for the rapid development of the residual Andhra Pradesh apart from providing a transparent and corruption-free government to the people.
"We have made so many promises to the people and now we will work towards fulfiling those," he said.
Naidu, who will become the chief minister, said the swearing-in ceremony of the new government would be held in Seemandhra even though Hyderabad is going to be the common capital for the two regions. The TDP is coming back to power, albeit in the residual Andhra Pradesh, after a gap of 10 years.
Feel humbled: KCR
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) said his party accepted the victory with all humility.
Responding to a question on whether he would retain the MLA seat to become the chief minister and relinquish the MP seat as he won both the constituencies, KCR said the legislature party meeting scheduled on Saturday would decide in this regard. On his party's relations with the Modi government at the Centre, he said his party would carefully think about it as they are set to win a big number of 12 Lok Sabha seats in the elections.
Naidu's made false promises: Jagan
YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy attributed his party's defeat partly to the 'Modi wave'. According to him, the BJP's alliance worked in favour of TDP's victory. He said the 'false promises', which according to him, include waiver of farm loans, one job for each family among other things, also influenced the minds of the voters leading to his party's defeat in this election.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) said it would analyse the causes for not been able to perform well in the elections.
