Bihar Elections: Over 59% polling recorded till 5 pm

The fifth phase of polling in Bihar on Thursday saw 59.46 percent voters cast their votes till 5 p.m.

The polling recorded in Madhubani District saw 55.87 percent, Supaul 58.60 percent, Araria 62.00 percent, Kishanganj 61.54 percent, Purnea 62.95 percent, Katihar 67.27percent, Madhepura 57.84 percent, Saharsa 50.78 percent, and Darbhanga 58.27 percent respectively till 5 p.m.

The fifth and final phase of the Bihar Assembly polls began at 7 am today for 57 seats spread across nine districts.

Polling concluded in 55 constituencies at 5 p.m, whereas in the 2 Naxal-affected seats- Simri Bhaktiyarpur and Mahisi in Saharsa district, polling concluded at 3 p.m.

Voters will decide the fate of 827 candidates, including 58 women.

The Election Commission has put all arrangements in place to ensure free and fair voting.
