Bihar Polls: Stage collapses at rally, Pappu Yadav injured

A portion of wooden dais collapsed due to overloading and Yadav's left leg got stuck in the process.

Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) President Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Monday sustained minor injuries, when a portion of a stage collapsed due to overloading in Naranga village in Bihar's Sitamarhi district, according to his close aide.

The incident occurred when he was addressing a public meeting at Naranga village under Parihar Assembly constituency in favour of party nominee Sarita Yadav, JAP chief's PRO Ranjan Sinha, who is accompanying Yadav, said over phone.

A portion of wooden dais collapsed due to overloading and Yadav's left leg got stuck in the process, Sinha said.

Few other party workers and leaders received minor injuries in the incident, he added.

Yadav, who received minor injury in the incident, later addressed another public meeting at Bidupur in Vaishali district while sitting on a chair, the PRO said.

Pappu Yadav, who along with five other parties has formed a third front, has put up 109 candidates in the polls.

Yadav's party JAP has formed third front along with Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, Sharad Pawar's NCP, Samajwadi Janata Party of former Union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav, National Peoples Party of former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma and Samras Samaj Party of former Union minister Nagmani.

Recently, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had walked out of the third front citing pro-BJP statements by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
