Initial trends shows that J Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK is leading in Tamil Nadu assembly elections, though the competition between the two parties is neck to neck.

But unlike last time, the opposition led by the DMK is expected to be much stronger this time. AIADMK is leading in 126 seats while DMK is leading in about 70 seats. The third front is yet to show any results. The trend clearly shows that the fight is between AIADMK and DMK.

Jayalalithaa and DMK Supermo M Karunanidhi are leading in their respective constituencies of R K Nagar and Tiruvarur respectively, while third front's CM candidate S Vijaykanth was trailing in Ulundurpet.
