Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company on Monday launched an insurance scheme which will cover loses owing to wedding cancellation or postponement. |
The insurance scheme has been timed with the onset of the wedding season. |

Hiren Vora, regional manager, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, said the wedding insurance scheme is expected to amount to about three per cent of the premium collection from next fiscal. |

Available with four sum-assured options, the package can also be customised to suit one's needs, said company officials. The sum assured under the scheme ranges from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. |

"The package covers wedding cancellation or postponement, damage to property, personal accident, loss of money, burglary and public liability and the premium can range anywhere between Rs 3,770 and Rs 14,276," Vora said. |

Rajeev Kumar, senior manager - marketing, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, said: "In fact, each case can be customised to any extent. The policy will come into force seven days before the event and will expire when the event is over. However, the burglary cover will extend one day after the marriage too, as people tend to stay back for the night after marriage." |

The premium income of Bajaj Allianz grew by 84 per cent to Rs 405 crore in the first half of the current financial year and profits grew by 52 per cent to Rs 20 crore. |

The company has set a target of acquiring a premium income of Rs 750 crore in the current fiscal. In 2003-2004 the company garnered a premium income of about Rs 480 crore. |
