Ahead of the finance minister’s meeting with the public sector bank chiefs on August 13, the Department of Financial Services has called a meeting of the senior executives of the banks on Tuesday to review the implementation of the farm loan debt waiver and relief scheme, among others.
The senior executives in charge of farm and rural credit will attend the meeting, chaired by Financial Services Secretary Arun Ramanathan. The convenors of State Level Bankers Committee, an apex coordinating agency among all lenders in each state, will also attend the meeting. The department is likely to advise them to increase farm loan credit.
