Banks disburse Rs 2,201cr in Krishna

Forty-five banks and financial institutions with 444 branches advanced Rs 2,201.32 crore (67.06 per cent) as against a target of Rs 3,282 crore under the annual action plan in Krishna district in 2007-08. The amount includes Rs 1,740.48 crore (69.50 per cent) loans for priority sectors as against a target of Rs 2,504 crore.
 
Crop loans stood at Rs 948.73 crore (74.31 per cent) as against the target of Rs 1,276 crore. The medium term agriculture loans stood at Rs 77.15 crore (target Rs 106.63 crore) while farm allied activities loans were at Rs 69.95 crore (target Rs 142. 13 crore).
 
The banks gave Rs 166.18 crore loans for small scale industries (target Rs 308.75 crore) and Rs 478.47 crore loans for other priority sectors (Rs 669.93 crore), according to a statement presented by the lead bank department of Indian Bank at the District Consultative Committee (DCC) meeting here.
 
The achievement under all the sectors was over 50 per cent except under farm allied activities, which was 49.21 per cent. The banks' cumulative deposits touched Rs 7,321 crore and advances Rs 7,630 crore as on December 31, 2007. Their CD ratio, which was 102.56 per cent in the first quarter, stood at 104.22 per cent.
 
Advances to the women self-help groups (SHGs) totalled Rs 360.44 crore as against a target of Rs 300 crore. The advances, to be given to 6,915 new SHGs in 2008-09, is expected to touch Rs 108.58 crore.
 
The DCC would spend Rs 1.63 crore in 2008-09 under an action plan to be sponsored by the Minorities Commission. Banks would also sanction Rs 1.20 crore to 259 units under self-employment progammes in 2008-09. They would advance Rs 60 crore to 8,250 SHG in the Vijayawada corporation area.
