Citigroup today appointed Alasdair Morrison, a former head of Moragn Stanley Asia, as Senior Adviser of Citi business in Asia in a bid to support the bank's expansion in the region.
In his new role Morrison would support the ongoing expansion of Citi's market-leading Global Banking franchise in the region.
Morrison would also join Citi's Senior Strategic Advisory Group, the US-based bank said in a statement.
"This newly created senior adviser role underlines our commitment to provide our clients access to more senior resources and highlights the ongoing growth opportunities we see across our Global Banking franchise.
"Alasdair is highly respected in the industry and his partnership with our senior team will help increase our ability to build our business and grow with our clients," Citi Asia Pacific joint-CEOs Stephen Bird and Shirish Apte said.
Morrison was CEO and Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia from 2000 to 2007.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he worked in Asia for 28 years for the Jardine Matheson Group, where he was the Group Managing Director from 1994 to 2000.
Global Banking is responsible for the coverage of Citi's largest institutional clients.
