While its SME operations will be centred in Pune, the bank plans to focus on its corporate banking and retail operations from Mumbai and Mangalore respectively," Sambamurthy said.
The SME-centres, which would be headed by senior level officials, will entirely focus on customer-acquisition activities in the SME segment and thus improve credit flow to the SMEs," he said, adding, "the bank plans to set up two more SME development centres this fiscal in Gurgaon and Chennai."
Out of its total loan book of Rs 39,185.57-crore, Corporation Bank disbursed around Rs 4,025-crore last fiscal to SMEs as against Rs 3,210-crore in the year-ago period, Sambamurthy said.
Presently, SME advances contribute above 10 per cent to the total credit of the bank while it expects to take the total disbursal to Rs 5,000-crore by the end of this fiscal.
