DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance launches pure online health plan for Dengue

The company looking to expand in health insurance space with online products that are mass market and affordable for customers

Private life insurance company DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance today announced its foray into health insurance segment with the launch of its first, pure online direct to customer product - DHFL Pramerica Dengue Shield. This is a traditional fixed benefit individual health insurance plan.

Here, it has signed an agreement with ItzCash to create customer awareness for Dengue Shield. ItzCash, is part of Essel Group and a leading holistic payments solutions company with a deeply entrenched on-ground franchise network of over 75,000 touch points across the country.

The company is looking to expand in the health insurance space with online products that are mass market and affordable for customers, said Anoop Pabby, Managing Director and CEO, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance.

DHFL Pramerica Dengue Shield can only be bought online at www.dengueshield.com. The company said that it is a highly affordable product with the premium starting for as low as Rs. 1 per day (applicable on individual life, regular pay for a cover of Rs. 25,000 purchased online).

Pabby said that during claims, a customer has to submit a positive proof of Dengue and 48 hours of hospitalisation. No detailed bills are required. An individual has the option to choose sum insured from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. Options of both Single and Annual Premium payment exist in Dengue Shield where a customer can get a discount of up to 21 per cent on single premium payment.

According to Pabby, there is a big gap in the market with respect to disease-specific health insurance covers and this is a space that they would target. He added that the focus would be on having a product that is simple to purchase and is low-cost so that those from lower-income groups can have access to it.

The insurer has partnered with ItzCash to generate customer awareness about the financial impact of Dengue and the protection offered by this product. Those customers who do not have access to internet can purchase the products via ItzCash touchpoints in their area.
