ICICI Banks opens 23 new rural branches in Gujarat

Private sector lender ICICI Bank today announced the launch of 23 new rural branches across Gujarat, as part of its financial inclusion initiative.

With this addition, the bank now has a network of 49 rural branches in Gujarat. The total number of branches in the state has reached 236.

"The bank accords importance to rural and inclusive growth. In line with this approach, we have launched 23 gramin branches, which will provide basic banking services in the unbanked villages," Rural & Inclusive Banking, Gujarat, Zonal Head ICICI Bank Rajiv Joshi said.

The branches were opened in districts of Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Mehsana, Rajkot and Surendranagar.

These branches will offer basic banking services like agri term loan for the cultivation and development of agricultural land, Kisan credit card, among others.

Recently, the bank had partnered with Gujarat administration for facilitating student scholarship through the business correspondent model.

Through this system, the bank would be supporting students of Sabarkantha district, an official statement said.

At present, ICICI Bank has 3,377 branches and over 11,000 ATMs spread across the country.
