Idbi Recast Rs 1191 Crore Steel Loans In Fy 02

The Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) restructured accounts worth Rs 1,191 crore in fiscal 2002 in the iron and steel industry. This constituted 26.21 per cent of the total restructured accounts in fiscal 2002.

IDBI had restructured loans and debentures of Rs 4,543.11 crore in the last fiscal. The total sub-standard assets which have been subjected to restructuring/ rescheduling/ re-negotiation was at Rs 297.98 crore.

The restructured accounts in the fertiliser industry was the next highest at Rs 574 crore, followed by cotton textiles Rs 382 crore, paper and paper products Rs 366 crore and electricity generation at Rs 191 crore.

On the basis of the top accounts that have been restructured, the ones with the maximum borrowing was at Rs 519 crore, followed by Rs 503 crore, Rs 273 crore. The institution
