LIC to grant folio numbers to policy holders

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) will soon offer folio numbers to its policyholders. Folio numbers are specially made for those policyholders who have bought more than one policy from LIC. Its very tough for them to get the details of all policies at the same time.

It was also creating a problem for the corporation. With folio numbers it would be easier for policyholders to access services in a better manner.

"The corporation was planning to have this folio number from a long-time but it can be done only when the dataware housing project was complete," sources in LIC said.

"The folio numbers would be given to the policyholders by June-July 2006. This will help customers to get details of their policies," sources said.

Prior to this LIC has launched satellite offices which will provide the customers the facility to make their premium payments, claims payments, policy servicing, and enquiries related to their policies without going to the main branch.
