Over 3,000 officers and the management of state-run National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) are at loggerheads. The All India National Bank Officers’ Association has given a call for mass leave on February 25 to protest the management’s delay in releasing pay and special allowance on the lines of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and implementation of a human resources committee report on promotions. The officers are also resisting its disinvestment move and transfer of 72 per cent shares held by RBI to the Centre.
The management has issued a hard-hitting circular warning of disciplinary action if the officers go on leave.
Nabard’s Chief General Manager KK Gupta told the association, “The call for mass casual leave is unjustified, uncalled for and unnecessary. All the staff members in the officers’ cadre, therefore, are advised, in their own interest, to desist from availing mass casual leave. If any officer participates in the proposed call, he/ she shall be doing so at his/ her risk of losing salary for the day.”
