The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 38.62 crore as loan assistance to the Karnataka government for building up rural infrastructure in various districts. Projects sanctioned cover rural roads and bridges, primary health centres and rural service centres. These projects have been sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF XVI) and the cumulative sanction to Karnataka in 2010-11 was Rs 861.30 crore, a NABARD statement said.
Implementation of three rural road projects with a total length of 9.2 km is expected to benefit three districts connecting 16 villages with two marketing centres, besides generating non-recurring employment of 82,000 mandays. The 41 Primary Health Centres in seven districts are expected to provide basic facilities to 410 villages benefiting 1.23 million people, besides generating non-recurring employment of 825,000 mandays, the statement said.
