NBFCs attract 107 investments from PE/VC funds between 2015 and H1 of FY18

Non-banking financial companies attracted 107 investments from private equity and venture capital funds between 2015 and first half of 2018 (1H18). There were 31 in 1H18, 26 each in 2016 and 2017, and 24 deals in 2015. The medium, small and micro enterprise (MSME) financiers and microfinance (MFI) sub-sectors saw 26 deals apiece during the period. The average deal size for the SME sub-sector was $99 million. Key active investors include Temasek, Morgan Stanley PE and Apax Partners. The largest investment was Apax Partners’ $370 million in Shriram City Union Finance in May 2015.
