State-owned Oriental Bank of Commerce today introduced the e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) facility, which instantly verifies a customer's identity and address proof after the Aadhaar number is keyed in to the system.
With this service, a customer can open an account with the bank without any hassles, OBC said in a statement.
A customer needs to provide only his/her Aadhaar number and to scan one of his/her enrolled fingertips at biometric device available at branches, it said.
The bank launched this service in coordination with NPCI and UIDAI. Last month, private sector HDFC Bank also launched eKYC facility.
