Following a global appreciation of the dollar against major currencies, the spot rupee opened lower at 44.98 as against Wednesday's close 44.93-94. It further fell to close at 45.09 to a dollar. The premium on the six-month and one"�year forward dollars closed at 1.20 per cent and 1.21 per cent respectively. |

Sentiment: Bearish The 25 basis point hike in Fed rate on Wednesday, followed by hawkish statements, bogged the market down. The prices of gilts fell by 15-20 paise. The yield on the 10-year paper closed higher at 7.53 per cent as against 7.49 per cent on Wednesday. Call rates ruled at around 5.5-5.6 per cent with the RBI absorbing around Rs 61,600 crore from the market. The corporate bond market remained lacklustre. |
