Outlook: The spot rupee is expected to open in the range of 43.57/60 to a dollar on Friday.
 
Sentiment: Bullish
 
  • The spot rupee opened at 43.5975 on Thursday and rose to 43.5325 before closing at 43.58/59 to a dollar.
  • Premium on forward dollars came off with the six-month and one-year dollars closing at 1.44 per cent and 1.27 per cent, respectively.
 
Money market
 
Sentiment: Bearish
 
  • Oil futures touching $55 per barrel and rising yields in the US bond markets led to a bearish sentiment in the gilts market on Thursday.
  • Prices of long-term government securities fell by 20-25 paise whereas medium and short-term securities witnessed a fall of 10-15 paise.
  • The 10-year benchmark, 7.38 per cent 2015 paper closed at 6.58 per cent.
  • Call rates ruled at 4.65/70 per cent, while reverse repo bids were at Rs 33,700 crore.
