Outlook: The spot rupee is expected to open in a range of 43.54/57 to a dollar on Tuesday.
 
Sentiment: Bullish
 
  • The spot rupee opened at 43.5550/60 to a dollar on Monday and rose to 43.50 on dollar supplies and closed at 43.56 on RBI intervention.
  • Forward premiums remained lacklustre with the six-month and one-year premiums closing at 1.45 per cent and 1.30 per cent, respectively.

Sentiment: Bearish
 
  • Illiquid securities got traded on valuation concerns on Monday in a lacklustre market.
  • The 10-year benchmark, 7.38 percent 2015 paper closed at 6.56 per cent.
  • Gilt prices across-the-board ruled in a band of 2-5 paise.
  • Call money rates ruled easy at 4.65/70 per cent, while reverse repo bids were at Rs 34,000 crore.
  • PNB, LIC and Central Board of Trustees were major buyers of gilts.
