Outlook
The rupee on Monday is likely to open between 46.32 and 46.36 against the greenback on Monday.
 
Sentiment: Dull
 
  • The rupee opened at 46.31/32 per dollar and closed higher at 46.29/30.
  • Premiums on forward dollars eased. Annualised premiums on six-month and one-year dollars closing at 1.95 per cent and 1.72 per cent.
  •

    Sentiment: Bullish
  • Even as headline inflation shot up to 8.17 per cent, gilt prices zoomed as investors bought heavily after RBI announced new norms on classification of banks' investment portfolios.
  • Prices of medium-term securities went up by around Rs 1.30, while those of long-term gilts barely budged.
  • The yield on the ten-year benchmark paper, 7.37 per cent 2014, closed lower at 5.88 per cent, compared with 5.99 per cent on Thursday.
  • Call money rates ended flat at 4.20-30 per cent.
