The spot rupee is expected to open in the range of 46.97-47.02 against the dollar.

  • Backed by dollar strength amidst good inflation data in the US, the spot rupee opened weaker at 46.78-46.79 as against a close of 46.68-46.69 on Tuesday

  • Dollar demand by importers led the spot rupee to reach an intraday low of 47.04/05 before recovering back to close at 46.99/47 to a dollar

  • The annualised premiums on six-month and one-year forward dollars closed at 1.01 per cent and 1.15 per cent, respectively

  • Gilt prices moved up by 15-20 paise across maturities amidst buying demand by trading banks

  • Yield on the ten-year paper closed at 8.34-8.35 per cent

  • Call rates moved around 5.8-5.9 per cent with the RBI absorbing around Rs 43,000 crore

  • The market was trading in a nervous sentiment anticipating the announcement of the auction

  • There was buying demand from provident funds and trusts in the corporate bond market
