The spot rupee, which opened at 43.51 per dollar, gained further to close at 43.49 per dollar on steady inflows. The rupee had closed at 43.53 per dollar yesterday.The government securities market remained lacklustre ahead of an auction announcement, and prices of securities across all maturities fell by 8-10 paise today.The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 paper closed at an yield of 6.99%.Call rates fell to almost 1-2%, and reverse repo bids totalled Rs 48,000 crore.
