Rupee ends at 46.14/$

Outlook
The spot rupee may open tomorrow around Rs 46.20, tracking the movement of yen.

Sentiment: Bearish

The spot rupee opened around 45.96 against the US dollar owing to demand for oil payments and defence contracts.

Rupee closed at 46.1314 after hitting intra-day high of 45.95

The premium on six-month and one-year forward dollars closed at 1.21 per cent and 1.26 per cent.

Money market

Sentiment: Bearish

Price of government securities remained bearish on day when the RBI announced results for auction for securities. The depreciation of rupee against dollar and expectations about Fed meeting slated next week impacted trading.

Prices of securities fell by 20-40 paise across maturities.

The yield on 10-year paper closed around 8.00 per cent.

Call rates closed at 5.80 per cent, while CBLO rates were 5.60 per cent on with RBI absorbing around Rs 42,255 crore from the system.
