Rupee ends higher at 46.18/$

Outlook
The rupee is expected to open at 46.15 and 46.19 against the greenback on Tuesday.
 
Sentiment: Bullish
 
  • The rupee opened at 46.24/25 per dollar but closed higher at 46.17/18 on the back of good inflows from exporters.
  • Premiums on forward dollars tracked the rupee. Annualised premiums on six-month and one-year dollars closed at 1.72 per cent and 1.55 per cent respectively.

    Sentiment: Bearish
  • Government security prices fell across the board in response to the 50 bps hike in the cash reserve ratio to 5 per cent by the RBI on Saturday.
  • Prices of long-term securities slid by 50-60 paise, while those of medium- and short-term paper lost 20-25 paise.
  • Yield on the ten-year benchmark paper, 7.37 per cent 2014, closed at 6.10 per cent, higher than the previous close but lower than the intraday high of 6.20 per cent.
  • Call money rates ended at 4.20-30 per cent.
  • Outstanding liquidity in the system stood at Rs 37,385 crore.
