Continuing its fall for the eighth day in a row, the Indian rupee today depreciated marginally to 52 a dollar in early trade taking cues from a mixed trend in other Asian currencies amid some demand for the greenback from importers.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market the domestic unit declined by 3 paise to 52 against the US dollar.

Dealers said mixed trend in other Asian currencies against the US dollar mainly put pressure on the Indian unit.

However, movements are restricted as traders are awaiting cues from the domestic stock market, they added.

Yesterday, the Indian rupee had ended lower by 4 paise to 51.97/98, after touching a record low of 52.20 on sustained capital outflows by foreign funds.
