S C Gupta may replace Kohli at PNB

S C Gupta, chairman and managing director (CMD) of Indian Overseas Bank, is likely to head Punjab National Bank once the incumbent chief SS Kohli retires by the end of this month.
 
M Balachandran, executive director of Bank of India, is slated to be promoted as CMD in the same bank after M Venugopalan, its current CMD, retires in end April.
 
These are two of the names that were cleared by the appointments committee of the finance ministry last week. The notifications on their appointment will be made in due course.
 
M B N Rao, CMD of Indian Bank, is slated to take charge at Canara Bank where the top slot has been lying vacant following V P Shetty's appointment as chairman of Industrial Development Bank of India.
 
K C Chakarbarthy, ED of Punjab National Bank, and K V Ramkrishnan, ED, Bank of Baroda, are expected to move south to fill in the top slots at Indian Overseas Bank and Indian Bank, respectively.
 
H A Daruwalla, executive director (ED) at Oriental Bank of Commerce, is likely to head Central Bank of India. B D Narang, chief of Oriental Bank of Commerce, retires this month. K N Prithviraj, ED at United Bank of India, is likely to head Oriental Bank of Commerce.
 
M V Nair, executive director at Dena Bank is likely to be promoted as CMD in the same bank. Here the post has been lying vacant since February when A K Khandelwal moved to Bank of Baroda as is CMD.
 
Eight executive directors appeared for interviews on March 4. A few heads of relatively smaller banks as well as these EDs have been considered for the top posts at eight banks.
