The members of State Bank of India Staff Association (SBISA), Bengal Circle, are irked over transfer orders of about 30 staffs to remote areas. Recently, the circle management had issued transfer orders to about 190 employees, out of which 150 have already been transferred.
Shyamal Karmakar, general secretary, SBISA, said that the association had asked the bank to keep the transfer order of the 30 employees on hold. He said the staffs have been transferred up to 300 km away from their present offices, against the customary norm of 100 km. “There is no validity in these transfers as they will not serve any purpose to the bank because the policy is lopsided as it ignores the needs of the branches from which the members are being transferred, and will not add any value at the remote places of posting,” said a press release from the SBISA.
The All India State Bank of India Staff Federation is also planning to stage demonstration in the 13 local head offices of the bank on 19 April. The SBISA is also planning to hold a relay hunger strike from 19 April at the local head office and five other administrative offices.
