Standard Chartered Bank today said that it has appointed Sreeram Iyer as the chief operating officer (COO) for its India operations.

Iyer will oversee critical operational functions and report to Neeraj Swaroop, regional chief executive, India and South Asia, a statement said here.

Iyer returns to India from Singapore where he was the global programme director for the integration of the erstwhile American Express Bank's consumer banking business with Standard Chartered.

Prior to this, he was instrumental in the planning and growth of Standard Chartered's outsourcing firm, Scope International, in Chennai.

As the global head and CEO of Scope International, he provided strategic leadership while overseeing all aspects of the company's operations, the statement said.

"Sreeram brings with him an experience of over two decades as a multinational banker with wide exposure in India and overseas markets driving crucial projects critical to the long-term growth of an oganisation," Swarop said.
