London-based banking major, Standard Chartered today announced the appointment of Jaspal Bindra as its new Group Executive Director. Bindra, who was serving as StanChart's Asia Chief Executive Officer, will continue to oversee the bank's Asian operations, a press release said.
Joined in StanChart in 1998, Bindra has held his current position since 2007. He has wide-ranging international experience including previous roles as Global Head of client relationships and Chief Executive Officer, India, the release said.
The bank also appointed three new independent Non-Executive Directors, a Senior Independent Director and said its Group Executive Director, Gareth Bullock, will retire from the board before the next annual general meeting.
"These changes reflect the changing size and scale of our business. The restructuring of the Board Committees underlines our commitment to building a sustainable business and the importance we attach to good corporate governance," StanChart, Group Chief Executive, Peter Sands said.
Three new non-Executive Directors are Han Seung-Soo, Richard Delbridge and Simon Lowth. The bank has appointed Rudy Markham as Senior Independent Director.
