The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 49.53 crore towards development of Technopark Kollam. The park was recently notified as a special economic zone.
This is the second funding by Nabard for an IT infrastructure project under its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) scheme. The first was for the infrastructural development of Infopark, Kochi, during last financial year.
Technopark will use the fund for developing the Kollam project, which is coming up at Kundara.
Work on power infrastructure, land, water supply, sewage treatment plant and construction of a building of 100,000 sft will all be undertaken with the sanctioned amount, an IT department release said.
The funding will also extend to the entire Mulavana and Perayam villages. “We have already set up technolodges in Kadakkal and Perinad and all the parks together will generate an employment of over 10,000,” said Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark.
