United Bank of India today launched the first bank-promoted training institute in eastern India at Rajpur in 24-Parganas (South) today, naming the institute named UBI Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI). |
This was the nineteenth RUDSETI in the country, the others being at Karnataka, said P Mohanaiah, chief general manager of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). |

"This is the only of its kind in West Bengal and we would be glad to support other initiatives such as this in the future," he added. |

The residential training institute, located in the UBI's own premises, would accommodate 27 male and nine lady candidates. |

It would train the local unemployed people so as to make them self sufficient and provide financial assistance after the completion of training, P K Gupta, chairman and managing director of UBI, said. |

UBI had deputed one full time director along with two additional officers to coordinate the day-to-day affairs of the institution. |
|
"Initially Ramakrishna Mission Samaj Sevak Sikshan Mandir of Belur, Howrah, would assist the institute to impart the training, and the would share the half of the operating expenses," said Gupta. |

The bank aimed to open a similar institute in Belur with NABARD and RKM as partners, where all would have equal responsibility, he added. |
