State-run UCO Bank today reported a 38.4 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 207.72 crore for the second quarter ended September 2009.
The PSU lender had a net profit of Rs 150.09 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal, UCO Bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Total income increased to Rs 2,609.82 crore at the end of the September quarter, from Rs 2,187.98 crore in the year-ago period.
During the quarter, the bank's interest income grew by 19.59 per cent to Rs 2,384.23 crore, while the interest expenditure stood at Rs 1,858.76 crore, up 17.47 per cent over the previous fiscal.
For the half year ended September 2009, UCO Bank posted a net profit of Rs 386.57 crore. Total income in the six month-period rose to Rs 5183.50, from Rs 4187.14 crore.
Shares of UCO Bank were trading at Rs 56.80, up 0.89 per cent, in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
