Uco Bank to set up 7 rural job institutes in Orissa

The Kolkata based Uco Bank has decided to set up 7 Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in Orissa. These institutes will come up in all the lead districts of the bank in the state.

The Entrepreneurship Development Centre, set up by the bank to train entrepreneurs for setting up of their enterprises at Puri, will be converted to RSETI and 6 new institutes will come up in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bhadrakh and Balasore, S M Sinha, General manager, Uco Bank said. Addressing the media after taking over as the new General Manager, Sinha said, RSETIs will be opened in Balasore and Cuttack district by March this year and the remaining training institutes are proposed to be opened in the next fiscal.

He said, the total business of the bank in Orissa crossed Rs 7204.71crore by the end of February 2009.This included deposits of Rs 4461.57crore and advances of Rs 2743.14 crore during this period.

On plans for expansion, Sinha said, Uco bank has 180 branches spread over the state and the bank plans to open 12 more branches in the near future. Similarly, it will add 20 more ATMs in the state to take the total to 60. It has a network of 112 rural, 28 urban and 40 semi-urban branches in the state at present.

The priority sector advance of the bank was 79.6 percent of the total advances by the end of February and the bank had a credit-deposit (CD) ratio of 61.48 percent in Orissa.

The bank launched mobile banking and internet banking services recently.
