State-owned Union Bank of India today said it has opened a representative office in Sydney.
The bank plans to convert this as a full-fledge branch over a period of time, Union Bank said in a statement.
The bank has representative offices at Shanghai, Abu Dhabi and Beijing and a branch in Hong Kong.
Moving ahead, the lender aims to focus on its foreign operations in East Asia and Australia, African sub-continent and Gulf Co-ordinating Countries.
The Sydney repo office was inaugurated by Minister for Finance, New South Wales, Michael Daley.
Union Bank has over 2,700 branches and a customer-base of over 2.5 crore.
