Public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) today reported 28 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 1,068 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010.
In the year-ago quarter, net profit was Rs 832 crore.
Total income of the bank rose by 11 per cent to Rs 6,863 crore for the quarter, compared to Rs 6,177 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Net interest income of the bank rose by 45 per cent to Rs 2,618 crore during the first quarter, PNB said in a statement.
It saw a 16 per cent rise in its interest earned at Rs 5,992 crore during the April-June period.
However, PNB's net non-performing assets (NPAs) rose to 0.66 per cent in the quarter from 0.19 per cent last year.
