The central government, today, appointed AK Batra and PN Venkatachalam as managing directors (MDs) of the State Bank of India (SBI). These appointments follow the superannuation of Y Radhakrishnan and S Govindarajan as MDs.
While Batra is expected to be the MD and group head of corporate banking, Venkatachalam is expected to be the MD and group head of national banking.
Prior to their appointment as MDs, Batra was the deputy managing director & group executive (corporate banking) and Venkatachalam was the deputy managing director & chief credit officer. Meanwhile, the finance ministry interviewed five SBI deputy managing directors for the chairman
