National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has come out with its 2016 recruitment notification for Assistant Manager and Manager posts in grade A and B cadres.NABARD was started to promote sustainable agriculture and rural prosperity through effective credit support & other innovative initiatives.The national bank came into existence in the year 1982.
NABARD has its headoffice located in Mumbai and regional offices spread across all the state capitals of India.
Post Vacancies & Salary
All the advertised posts exist in Rural Development Banking Service (RDBS)
- Assistant Managers (Grade A): 100 openings
- Manager (Grade B): 15 openings
The salary for these NABARD positions may increase further as they are due for revision.
- salary of Assistant manager is Rs.43,183 /month (approx) including all the allowances.
- for Manager, the salary is Rs.54,970 /month (incl benefits & allowances).
While the gross salaries are only specified, take home salary shall be slightly less than the figures above.

Who are Eligible?
As part of NABARD recruitment 2016, there are two posts to be filled.Hence there are separate eligibility conditions for each.
For Assistant Manager (Grade A):
- Age to be between 21 – 30 years (+3yrs for OBC, +5 yrs for OBC, +10 for PWD) as on January 31, 2016
- Freshers are eligible to apply
- Should have completed UG or PG degree in Engineering, Arts, Management, Commerce, Science, IT, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy Technology, Horticulture with an aggregate of 50% marks OR
- 2 years full time PG diploma in Management / MBA Degree OR
- Chartered / Cost Accountants / Company Secretary (ACS) OR
- Doctorate Degree holder
In simple words, any candidate who has completed a degree with 50% marks is eligible to register.
For Manager (Grade B):
- 25 – 35 years (+3yrs for OBC, +5yrs for OBC, +10yrs for PWD) as on Jan 31, 2016
- Should have 3 years experience (2 yrs for SC/ST) as on 31.01.2016 as an officer in any commerical/ co-operative/ regional rural bank or non-banking finance companies.
- Masters degree with aggregate of 60% marks (for further qualification, refer advt)
Fresh graduates are NOT eligible to apply for Manager post due to 3 yr experience rule.
Selection Process
A new selection procedure has been introduced for the NABARD recruitment 2016 exercise which would be similar to all other banking exams.
According to it, Assistant Manager candidates will have to undergo three stages:
- Phase I Preliminary Exam (200 marks | 2 Hours)
- Phase II Main Exam (200 marks | 3 hours)
- Phase III Interview (25 marks)
Those applying for Manager positions have a different pattern:
- Phase I Preliminary Exam (200 marks | 2 Hours)
- Phase II Main Exam (300 marks | 4 1/2 hours)
- Phase III Interview (40 marks)
Each phase has been divided into few papers & their topics are mentioned in the notification.
The prelims are only of qualifying nature & the marks secured in it wont be considered for final selection.But candidates should pass and rank sufficiently high to get shortlisted for mains.
How to Register
While the application fees for SC/ST/PWD candidates is Rs.100, applicants from other categories should pay Rs.750 for Grade A & Rs.850 for Grade B positions.
- Candidates can apply for both posts by submitting separate fee & applications
- You can choose a different test centre for prelims & mains from the list of cities given in the registration form.
- The online call letters can be download from www.nabard.org before 15 days of the exam.
After submission, do not forget to note down your registration number & password.Also take a printout of the generated online application and e-receipt for future reference.
