De-Addiction Centres in Kerala

The of Social Justice & Empowerment Ministry implements a Central Sector Scheme of Assistance for Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drug) Abuse under which financial assistance is provided to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies etc. for inter-alia, running and maintenance of Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts (IRCAs). There is no proposal to introduce any Centrally Sponsored Scheme for setting up of de-addiction centres at village panchayat level in the country.

Proposal of NGOs for release of grant-in-aid are considered on the basis of recommendation of the State Government/UTs as well as satisfactory Inspection Reports. During the inspection carried out by the officers deputed by the Ministry in the current year, some IRCAs were found closed. The names of these IRCAs are:
