Ten States of the country viz. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are considered to be the LWE affected States in varying degrees. The CPI (Maoist), which is the largest Maoist outfit in the country, is responsible for most of the violent incidents in the country. The CPI (Maoist) cadres are also making forays at the tri-junction of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and trying to establish their bases in the area. The CPI (Maoist) party is trying to establish organizational bases in the North East with a view to forge relations with other insurgent groups to meet its military requirements.
