Director General, Research Designs and Standards Organisation & General Manager, Northern Railway holds Press Conference at New Delhi yesterday in connection with the Global Technology Conference slated to be held on 3rd and 4th May 2017 in New Delhi Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, Director General, Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) and General Manager, Northern Railway held a Press Conference here yesterday to give details of the forthcoming Global Technology Conference to be held on 3rd and 4th May 2017 in New Delhi. He highlighted the significance of the technological conclave in planning for future rail transportation growth in the country and the follow-on opportunities for rail-based industries and various industry entrepreneurs. Shri J.S.Sondhi, Addl. Director General, RDSO, Shri Shailendra Jaiswal, Executive Director, Efficiency & Research, Railway Board were also present on the occasion. Addressing the members of the press, Shri Kulshrestha stated that the Conference will have the four major thrusts viz. Enhanced Safety, Reduced In-service failures and automated Health monitoring & Inspection, Capacity Enhancement and Congestion reduction and Enhanced Customer Service. The Research and Development Standards Organization (RDSO) of the Indian Railways has scheduled to hold a two-day Global Technology Conference on 3rd & 4th May 2017 respectively at Manekshaw Centre, Parade Road, Delhi Cantonment. The Technical Engineering Institutes of the Indian Railways viz. Institute of Rolling Stock Engineers (IRSE) and the Institution of Signal and Telecommunications Engineers (IRSTE) are the nodal bodies collaborating in and organizing this Conference. Minister for Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, will inaugurate the Global Conference on 3rd May 2017 at the same premises. The Global Technological Conference envisages bringing in new perspectives and insights in planning for future rail transportation growth in the country and for assessing contemporary global technologies relevant to adoption on IR. The Conference shall feature technical sessions, technical presentations, and table-top exhibits, besides wide opportunities for several industries networking too. Experts from 17 countries viz. USA, China, Japan, Russia, South Africa etc shall be participating in the Conference. Besides the knowledge takeaways, it is envisaged that the Conference would enable the emergence of a multi-disciplinary logistics interface and eco-systems that would enable the Indian Railways to deliver new levels of value along with modernization. Several experts from rail transportation development and allied technological industries, academia and research fraternity across the world are slated to deliver presentations and interact with experts of Indian Railways (IR) for identification of appropriate cutting edge technologies and systems available worldwide for adaptation and deployment on IR and Public Sector Units of the IR. The RDSO has launched a dedicated conference website www.gtcir.in for disseminating information and facilitating registration of participants.
