J&K Rural Development Minister calls on Dr Jitendra Singh J&K Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice Abdul Haq Khan called on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here yesterday and discussed wide range of issues relating to the State of Jammu and Kashmir, the Department of Rural Development, Law and Railways. Dr Jitendra Singh assured Abdul Haq Khan that the Central Government led by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is committed to provide every possible assistance and cooperation to the State Government in Jammu & Kashmir to ensure Good Governance and equitable development of all the regions of the State. He said, in the last two years the Central Government provided an unprecedented Rupees 80,000 Crore package for J&K State and also made liberal financial allocations for construction of roads and expansion of rail networks. Abdul Haq Khan made a strong plea to Dr Jitendra Singh for renovation and upgradation of the courts in smaller towns of the State like, for example, Reasi and Katra in Jammu region and Kupwara and Qazigund in Kashmir Valley and sought Centres assistance for the same. He said that a request for financial assistance has been made for the purpose to the Centre and sought Dr Jitendra Singhs intervention to pursue it with Union Law Minister Shri Sadananda Gowda. Abdul Haq Khan requested Dr Jitendra Singh to take up with the Railway Minister the issue of further expansion of Railway network in the State, including the laying of 30 kms of Rail track from Baramulla to Kupwara. Abdul Haq Khan further urged Dr Jitendra Singh to pursue road construction work in peripheral parts of the State with the Central Government.
