'Rahagiri' gets UD Ministry's Excellence Award; Karnataka bags four of ten Awards of Excellence for urban transport initiatives; Shri Babul Supriyo calls for adoption of Intelligent Transport Initiatives

Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Shri Babul Supriyo has urged the states and urban local bodies to adopt Intelligent Transport Systems in urban areas to improve urban mobility. Stating that quick, reliable and sustainable urban mobility is the lifeline of quality of urban life, the Minister has said that smart cities will provide bench marked transport systems. He was addressing the 'Urban Mobility India conference and Expo' that concluded today. The four day meet was organized by the Institute of Urban Transport and Ministry of Urban Development. He gave away the 'Awards of Excellence' instituted by the Ministry of Urban Development for promoting best urban transport systems.
